Shortly after receiving a BS in Computer Science, I found myself back in college enrolled in an Interior Design class! While continuing a career in software, I remained committed to seeking and enrolling in design educational opportunities. These two, somehow unrelated tracks, have proved to be both beneficial and instrumental to my unique ability to serve my clients. After developing software for many years, the importance of "first defining the big picture and then carefully perfecting the minute details" became ingrained in me.
Stepping away from a full-time career, to raise our children, I began working part time as a Sales Associate/Design Consultant at Stone's Furniture. Three floors of quality furniture, textiles, lamps, artwork, and accessories available to share with my clients was pure joy! Assisting clients in finding their perfect, custom upholstery for a sofa OR creating a furniture plan and fashioning an entire room, the creative design process was truly gratifying.
Years before I received my formal home staging certification, my training in home staging began organically. Relocating, several times, my husband and I developed a home buying pattern. Buy a sound home, with the right number of bedrooms, in a great neighborhood, for a price we could afford, with bad aesthetics-but great potential! We found that if we bought the diamond in the rough, we could afford a potentially superior home for a lot less money! I am not talking tear downs. I am simply referring to homes that “showed horribly” and left “everything” to the imagination. In fact, FIVE out of the six homes we have previously purchased were not staged. Not shy on imagination, I could see the possibilities other previous home buyers could not! Purchasing these non-staged homes enabled us to get more home for less money.
Curating and assembling a "design to dwell" or strategically forming a plan to "Stage to Sell." The Best Dressed House affords me the opportunity to share my passion for design & know-how to get homes dressed for success!
